Cg, I don't think any of my experiences are that great. There are just events that happen. This man is not leaving the organization, he still believes in the paradise earth. What's great about that? Now if I got to teach him TTATT and he left the organization, then that would be a great story don't you think? But just expressing his disgust for the overlapping generation is not a big deal. I'm sure this is happening everywhere. -

John Aquila,
How do you do it? I am assuming you have faded or at least not regularly attending, and yet people come to you and trust you with stuff they wouldn't trust another brother in the faith.I've only been awake 2 years. I faded because I am well known in the circuit including other cities. I was an elder for many years and gave talks in every convention. I am still respected by many jws, probably because I was not a tyrant elder but I actually liked to help people with their problems. Perhaps that's why they still trust me. Being a Jw for over 40 years allowed me to make friends with a lot of people. Plus I was a very successful business man so most jw see me a a level headed person.
Most of the people that talk to me are 50 years old and up. I've help them when their kids went wild, when their wives left them, I was there when they got sick and lost their jobs. Most of them don't forget that.
On the other side of the story, most of my friends are dying off. I doubt it if in 10 more years anyone will be calling me to talk. Hey, I might not even make it another 10 years, I'll be over 70.
I actually don't think this experience is that great. It was just a 5 minute conversation with a former elder who expressed his disgust for the overlapping generation. I don't see anything extraordinary with it.

My husband watched the broadcast and just sat there saying: 'they're wrong...'
He also says things like: 'If I die of old age in this system...'
Those words were the beginning of me wanting to look at the internet for information on Jehovah's witnesses.

Therefore any Jehovahs Witness who doesn't believe this utterly ridiculous overlapping generation teaching.. has in fact, whether they realise it yet or not, admitted that the 'faithful slave' published a false prophecy.
That’s right DoF. The dubs can’t pick and choose what they believe. If they believe the GB is God’s only channel, they have to accept the overlapping Generation. Even if they change the generation in another 30 years to mean overlapping centuries.

why doesnt the GB just let this die a natural death the way the 7th Day Adventists did with their 1844 doctrine.
Good question millie, probably they are milking it for all they can. But eventually they will have to drop it somehow. I bet they are working on that right this moment."How can we drop 1914 without creating a major exodus?" -

We should be able to say,"No, Ray Franz was not an apostate. The GB of that time lied and DF'd him for disagreeing with them and for trying to fix some problems."That's a good point DD. I will be using that next time I'm told Ray was an apostate.

The only way my JW family member would wake up Jesus himself would have to come down and tell them, you folks are in a cult.
That would not be enough for some

Each and every one of us here who has either left, faded or shown discontent in any way is a witness to those remaining. When they are feeling doubts, they are going to think of us.That's exactly what's happening to me. I left two years ago, and now I'm finally getting calls from former elders, especially those that want to talk about what is happening in the organization, but can't talk to anyone inside. They want to believe it's still God's organization, but it's getting harder and harder to believe. They are trying very hard to stay in the organization, yet they call me to express their doubts. They are still afraid to do research, but they are getting closer and closer to taking the plunge.
I think it's exciting because just a few years ago, there was still some believability in what the organization said, but not anymore.

It seems his mind is opened a little, if just a crack.
Maybe it's time to talk to him about 607..I thought about that, but the poor man is hitting 80, and he is not in the best of health, what would be the point at that age. He still believes in paradise earth, let him die believing that.

So should the authorities just ignore it?I was a sub. teacher for about a year. A kid in the 5th grade, about 11 years old brought a contraption with a timer and we all ignored it. About 30 minutes into the class the thing went off with a loud shrieking sound. It scared the hell out of everyone.
Anything can happen these days.
